Gamblers Win, 5-4, Versus Swamp Foxes
|
Though he had a terrific game, Joshua Ackland could not prevent his team, the Cape Fear Swamp Foxes, from absorbing a loss. Atlantic City won the game, 5-4. Ackland was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The save was credited to Jesús Martínez, his 37th. Atlantic City has a record of 74-67, placing them 4th in the Johnson League Atlantic Division.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Javier Aguilar was at the plate when Atlantic City scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Gamblers to go in front, 4-3.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Aguilar. "It sure beats the alternative."
