Yellow Springs pitcher Cory McGuire had a large part in his team subduing the Hawaii Tropics, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Jesús Ríos sewed up the save, his 15th. Yellow Springs is in 6th place in the Frick League Heartland Division with a record of 28-31.

Yellow Springs used a clutch at-bat from Carlos Hernández to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Nine ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"The vibe's good," said Yellow Springs manager Bill Inkster. "We've got to keep it going."
