The Charlotte Flyers had to overcome a fine effort from Cobble Hill pitcher Luis Medina to win, 5-3, at Family Dollar Field. Medina went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win went to Wayne Lambert in relief, making him now 3-1. Hayden Bennion took the loss for Cobble Hill. Pedro Martínez notched his 10th save of the season.

Charlotte took a 4-3 lead on Roberto Villalobos's 29th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Villalobos hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cobble Hill pitcher Hayden Bennion visibly frustrated.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Charlotte manager Walt Whitworth. "It's usually not just one thing."

Today's win puts Charlotte at 69-73, while Cobble Hill falls to 71-71.
