Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Jacksonville Zombies and Rocky Mountain Oysters.
Jacksonville turned a good effort from starter Gavrilovich Mastinsky into a win over the Rocky Mountain Oysters at The Station @ CSX Field. The Zombies won the game, 4-1. Mastinsky yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-4. Picking up his 19th save was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Clarence Moore.
Majd bin Nawaf had a big solo home run for the Zombies in the bottom of the third inning. With Jacksonville leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from Denny Tabb, who finished 5th in the JL in innings pitched with 206.0 last year, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Zombies on top, 3-1.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Zombies manager Shoiab Kardar. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
The Zombies move to 35-27 with the win, while the Oysters drop to 31-31.
