Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Vicente Martínez, who is tied for 3rd in the FL with a .327 batting average, the Hawaii Tropics defeated the Brook Park Brownies, 3-0. Hawaii reliever Álex García, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2057 draft, was credited with the win. His record goes to 3-2. António Fox took the loss for Brook Park. Cale Cote collected his 1st save.
Tied up with the Brownies in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Tropics got a boost from catcher Armando Medina. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Medina saw a 1-1 sinker from António Fox and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Hawaii on top, 1-0.
"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Martínez.
Hawaii, at 35-27, sits in third place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
