Riding the 3-hit performance of the former first round draft pick Stan Lodge, the Omaha Cyclones defeated the Valencia Stars, 5-2. Dave Ferrell picked up his 11th save of the season. The 7th-place Cyclones now have a record of 27-35.

Pat Loder cracked a home run off Luis González in the bottom of the first. His 2-run blast put the Cyclones on top, 2-1. In all, Loder had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Cyclones manager Sylvester Reed.
