Pérez Stops Atlantic City Cold, 1-0
Friday, May 25th , 2063
The Atlantic City Gamblers manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the San Antonio Outlaws. The Gamblers were overpowered by San Antonio starter Jesús Pérez, who hurled his club to victory, 1-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Alejandro Hernández said.
Over 9 innings, Pérez blanked Atlantic City on 4 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Pérez said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This year, Pérez has compiled a 5-1 record with a 2.51 ERA.
