Skipper Díaz Dismissed by Lincoln Monday, November 6th , 2062 Víctor Díaz had heard the talk, but didn't think much of the ongoing rumors of his own firing. That is, until he arrived at the ballpark today and found out he had been terminated as the manager of the Lincoln Loggers. "You read the newspaper, you hear people talking, you hope it won't happen and when it does, it's tough to actually lose your job," said the distraught Díaz, only a few minutes after learning he had been terminated. "It's never easy to take, but you've got to try to grin and bear it. Like they say, 'you are hired to be fired.'" Several players came by Díaz's office to say their goodbyes and offer hugs and well wishes as he packed his belongings. "He was well-respected in the clubhouse, but in the end we need someone who is going to bring better results," said Lincoln general manager . |
