Proudest Monkeys Stop Midgett at 20 Thursday, May 10th , 2063 Indianapolis Downforce center fielder Tom Midgett and his hot bat finally met their match at Monkey House. The South Bend Proudest Monkeys snapped his 20-game hitting string, holding Midgett hitless in 3 at-bats and also whipping Indianapolis, 7-2, for good measure. "We're real pleased with this one," Proudest Monkeys manager Troy Gill said. "Nobody wants to be on the wrong end of a streak like that, and clobbering Indianapolis makes it even sweeter." Midgett has a .385 average and a .426 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 50 hits, 2 home runs and driven in 22 runs. |
