Panthers Smelser Tames Saint Paul Wednesday, July 25th , 2063 Rick Smelser kept the Saint Paul Riverhawks hitters from doing much damage at Old League Park. Saint Paul could only muster 3 hits and draw no walks against the right-handed Smelser, who controlled them throughout the game. Richmond won the contest, 3-0. Smelser added 3 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Smelser told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." This season, Smelser has crafted a 6-9 mark with a 4.95 ERA in 129 innings.
