Carter Blisters Bartlett
Friday, July 22nd , 2061
The Russellville Rockets stopped the Bartlett Jazz by a score of 15-2 at Tulsa Grounds, with the lion's share of the credit going to first baseman Joel Carter. The 21-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Carter said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Carter did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Jazz.
"Not much that I can say," offered Bartlett manager Jay de Coster. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Joel Carter singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Júlio Román in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
Posting a .407 batting average to date, Carter has 4 home runs and 27 RBIs.
