Meléndez Clobbers 3 HR Against Bullfrogs Sunday, July 9th , 2062 António Meléndez brutalized the Aurora Bullfrogs pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 10-2 Lexington victory at Monkeys Stadium. The Lexington Sycamores left fielder was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 4-for-4 with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Too much António Meléndez today," Bullfrogs manager Enrique Ayala said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." António Meléndez hit a solo-shot off António Martínez in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off António Martínez in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th and hit a three-run home run off Gotam Pals in the 6th. Thus far this season in 22 games, Meléndez is batting .309 with 7 home runs, 18 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 21 hits in 68 at-bats. |
