Ryan Cracks 3 HR for Road Runners Monday, August 21st , 2062 Alamogordo Road Runners catcher Arnold Ryan put on a dazzling display of power at Pythons Pit against the Port Arthur Pythons. In the 18-6 Road Runners victory, Ryan penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Port Arthur manager Jeff Díaz said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 20-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Ryan said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Arnold Ryan hit a two-run home run off Jesús Morán in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Johnny Ahern in the 3rd, was hit by a pitch in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Raúl Luong in the 9th. So far this season, Ryan has put up a .384 batting average with 71 hits, 6 home runs and 36 RBIs. |
