Wednesday, June 13th , 2063
Dave Coates went yard three times in a Berkeley Golden Bears victory over the Lynchburg Whiskeyjacks at Prophets Ballpark.
"I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit."
For the day, the Berkeley first baseman went 3-for-4 against Lynchburg with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Golden Bears to the 11-9 win.
"I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out."
Dave Coates grounded out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Mahzun Kasaba in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Salim Torlak in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Cole Stevens in the 8th.
During the current season Coates is batting at a .250 clip with 5 home runs and 13 RBIs. He has played in 10 games and scored 9 times.
