Beachbums End González Streak Sunday, August 7th , 2061 The Coxen Hole Schooners lost to the Key West Beachbums, 2-1, at Key Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Juan González's 20-game hitting streak. The left fielder went 0-for-3 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down González, we would win the game," Beachbums manager Luis Medina explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." Currently González is batting .377 with 3 home runs, 35 RBIs and 32 runs scored. |
