Turcotte Shuts Out Hermosillo, 4-0
Sunday, August 14th , 2061
The Hermosillo Naranjeros were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the Coco Cay Anglers and hurler Phil Turcotte. Turcotte kept the Naranjeros confused all game, spinning a 1-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Turcotte," Hermosillo manager John Castillo said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 24-year-old left-hander had 3 walks and 5 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Turcotte said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
For the season, Turcotte has made 8 relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 6-1 won-lost mark and a 1.08 ERA. In pitching 75.1 innings, he has totaled 66 strikeouts and 14 walks.
