Tides Newsom Raps 3 Homers

Tortuga Tides center fielder Walt Newsom left the San Pedro de Macoris pitching staff in ruins at Aqua Field, beating the Green Sox, 15-7, with a prodigious three-home run performance.
"The last one was totally unexpected," Newsom told reporters at the press conference following his big game. "I just wanted to make good contact, never thinking I would get a home run, and bang, I got number three."
For the game, the Tortuga center fielder had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 6 and scored 5 runs.
Walt Newsom doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Spencer Maslen in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jesús Rodríguez in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Dermott Bent in the 9th.
Thus far this year, Newsom is batting .290 with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
