Scholars Stop Neighbors at 31
Friday, August 11th , 2062
The Bogota Scholars did something to Larry Neighbors no team had done for the last 31 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Water Wolves, who came away with the 5-1 victory at Saint Grounds.
"Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 24-year-old second baseman said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted."
This season, Neighbors has delivered 72 hits in 194 at-bats for a .371 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .394 clip and his totals also include 28 RBIs and 31 runs scored. This year Neighbors has played in 50 games.
