Hit Parade: Mendoza Gets Cycle
Tuesday, January 10th , 2062
Eduardo Mendoza showed off his speed, his power and his plate discipline at Havana Park, putting together all facets of his game to hit for the cycle in the Caribbean win.
The 19-year-old first baseman went 4-for-6, collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to help the Sunbirds top the Western Europe Avengers by a score of 17-4. A jubilant Mendoza told reporters afterward that the experience was "unimaginable."
"Seriously, I would have been happy going 1-for-6 with just the double," he said. "So this feels incredible."
For the day, Mendoza finished with 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to go with his 4 hits.
Eduardo Mendoza doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jorge Miranda in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
A look at his season totals shows Mendoza with 3 home runs, .333 BA, .390 OBP, 12 RBIs and 8 runs scored.
