Vásquez Raps 3 HR Against Avengers Saturday, January 28th , 2062 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Western Europe Avengers. Eastern Europe second baseman Bernardo Vásquez tripled up on the home runs to propel the Kings to a win, 13-12, at Red Bulls Field. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Western Europe manager Jorge Nevárez said. "Vásquez hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Vásquez collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 8 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Bernardo Vásquez walked in a run in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Otis Mendelson in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Arturo López in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Brian Utley in the 8th. So far on the season, Vásquez is hitting .488 with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has 21 hits and played in 13 games. |
