Castro Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 22 Friday, February 10th , 2062 The Central America Conquistadors got more than the 16-3 victory at Red Bulls Field -- they also put an end to the 22-game hitting streak of Western Europe Avengers shortstop José Castro by holding him without a hit in 5 at-bats. After the game, Castro seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." Castro currently has a .391 batting average with 61 hits, 13 homers, 46 RBIs, 42 runs scored and a .487 OBP. |
