Simpson Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter
Sunday, August 28th , 2061
The Chiriqui Roneros were just hoping for a solid outing from Winston Simpson. Instead, they got something special.
The 24-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Montevideo Leones, helping the Roneros take the 9-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Roneros. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Simpson's repertoire has a changeup, fastball, slider, and knuckle curve, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Montevideo hitters off balance all game long. The Chiriqui hurler fanned 8 and walked 2 in his history-making performance.
"His changeup looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Montevideo manager Domingo Carmona joked after the game.
In the current season in 13 starts, Winston Simpson has a record of 5-6 with 109 strikeouts in 110.1 innings and a 4.08 ERA.
