 | Ruíz K-Os Strikeout Record Saturday, December 21st, 2041 It's not often you see history in the making, but it happened today at Scottsdale Grounds. Juan Ruíz fired a third strike past his 68th batter this year to establish a new league mark for a season. The game was held up for about five minutes as the crowd roared in appreciation and Ruíz was presented the historic ball. Previously the strikeout record was held by Berhane Omondi. Talking to the press about his method of success, Ruíz told them, "I could probably throw harder if I wanted, but why? When they're in a jam, a lot of pitchers...try to throw harder. Me, I try to locate better."
