| Wheeler Belts Bunch of Base Hits Wednesday, November 18th, 2043 After a 5-hit effort to lead Port St. Joe's 13-6 victory over the Tallahassee Gamblers, center fielder Tim Wheeler told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Florida Prospect League-level is really something special."
The 19-year-old player earned his accolades today at Ballpark of Hialeah with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Gamblers.
"His swing is getting there," said Hurricanes skipper , who spoke glowingly of Wheeler after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Tim did that to perfection today."
Tim Wheeler singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Mike Miller in the 9th.
Wheeler is hitting .318 this year with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 14 hits in 44 at-bats, 2 walks and a .354 on-base percentage. Wheeler has played in 10 games.
