 | Manuel Rivera Named FPL's Best Player Tuesday, December 8th, 2043 Manuel Rivera took Florida Prospect League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 20.
For his spectacular campaign, the Ocala River Monsters star has been named the 2043 Florida Prospect League Most Valuable Player recipient.
"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the right fielder.
On the season he compiled a .418 batting average to go with a .450 on-base percentage. The native of Matagalpa, Nicaragua also added 11 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
He received 14 first place votes out of a possible 32. Miguel González of the Vero Beach Mad Popes finished second in voting with 8 first place votes, while Tom Barnett of the St. Augustine Wolves finished third with 3 first place votes.
