Mahdi Hits 2 home runs in Bears Win

The San Fernando Bears beat the Omaha Cyclones, 4-0, at Chico's Bail Bonds Field. San Fernando shortstop Qutuz Mahdi had the hot bat. He belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Morgan Tomsett, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held the Cyclones to no runs on 2 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The loss makes Omaha 22-26.
With San Fernando leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Mahdi batted against Omaha pitcher Ken Sproul. Mahdi hit a fastball to left for a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Bears on top, 2-0.
San Fernando manager Gonzalo Escobar praised his team's "businesslike approach."
