San Fernando Rallies to 4-2 Win
|
The San Fernando Bears beat the Madison Wolves by a score of 4-2. San Fernando shortstop Qutuz Mahdi deserved the lion's share of the credit. Mahdi went 3-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Bears. Carlos Williams picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Clint Thomas was tagged with the loss. Bryan Longstaff earned the save, his 13th, for the Bears.
Mahdi had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 sinker from Clint Thomas, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Bears a 4-2 lead. It was the 16th double of the year for Mahdi.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Mahdi told the San Fernando Observer.
The last-place Wolves have lost 5 straight games.
