Due in large part to shortstop Carlos Schumann, the Hawaii Tropics sunk the Valencia Stars, 6-3. Schumann went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The second-place Tropics bumped their record to 83-67.

Schumann had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-0 fastball from Luis Pérez, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Tropics a 6-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Schumann.

"I like to lead by example," said Schumann. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
