Pharaohs Deal Pilots 5-1 Loss
|
Júlio García, who is tied for 6th in the GBC with a 7.5 K/9 rate, imposed his will on the Pilots from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Cairo triumph. García picked up the win for Cairo, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-7. Tim Cornett earned the save for Cairo, his 2nd of the year.
Cairo won the game in part because of Boulus bin Altair. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pharaohs ahead, 2-1. For the game, bin Altair had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I like our moxie," said Pharaohs manager James Monger.
The Pharaohs, at 85-45, have a comfortable 21-game lead in their division.
