Oliwa Ihilani sparked his Tarawa Sun Kings past the pesky Majuro Bruins in a closely-contested Round 1.

Tarawa topped Majuro 4-2 at Bombay HS Grounds to decide the series, 4-2

For his efforts, Ihilani was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .391 batting average, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

"You never want to leave anything on the field," Ihilani said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win."

The Tarawa Sun Kings will play against the Port Moresby Seahawks in the next round. Port Moresby won their series against the Weno Crush 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
