Pearls Get One-Run Win at Johannesburg
|
Golden Palace was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Tokyo Pearls and Johannesburg Gold.
The Tokyo Pearls withstood an impressive performance by Johannesburg right fielder Hilal Dharr to defeat the Gold, 5-4, at Golden Palace. Dharr was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Garry Bryan notched his 1st save in 3 chances.
Chance Wilson came through with a big-time hit for Tokyo. The shortstop smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We did enough to win," said Wilson.
With the win, the Pearls sit at 66-64.
