Hot Shots Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Hangmen Ballpark as the Round 1 stretched to the final game.

It was the Starbucks Hot Shots feeling the thrill of victory, with a 11-3 win over the Campbells Reds, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 2.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Campbells manager Elmer Ortíz. "Congratulations to Starbucks, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was right fielder Patrick Kasparek, who was named MVP. He hit .367 with a .457 on-base percentage. He had 4 home runs, drove in 14 RBI and scored 10 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

The Starbucks Hot Shots don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Firestone Fires - Intelligrated Tigers series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 is scheduled to begin on February 28th , 2062.
