Bears Win with Late Heroics
The San Fernando Bears racked up a win at Chico's Bail Bonds Field, bumping off the Long Beach Surfers, 4-3, in 12 innings. Morris Chapa, who started for San Fernando, pitched effectively for his team. Ben Weaver snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Paul Berry suffered the loss. With the loss, Long Beach is 4-5.

The Bears got a clutch hit from first baseman Yuu Suzuki. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Bears.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Chapa said.
