Davidson Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Melbourne's 9-3 victory over the Suva Desperados, first baseman Lou Davidson told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Oceania Baseball Academy-level is really something special."
The 16-year-old player earned his accolades at Ashdod HS Fields with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Desperados.
"His swing is getting there," said Ports skipper Abdullah Brown, who spoke glowingly of Davidson after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Lou did that to perfection."
Lou Davidson doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
Davidson is hitting .515 for the season with 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 17 hits in 33 at-bats and played in 7 games.
