Though he had a terrific game, Run-ming Gui could not prevent his team, the Bikini Krill, from absorbing a loss. San Fernando won the game, 7-5. Gui hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. San Fernando reliever Carlos Williams picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jon Brown was saddled with the loss. Steve Fuller earned his 2nd save in 4 chances.

Had José Reyes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Reyes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Bears.

"It feels good to get this one," Reyes told the San Fernando Observer.

The 4th-place Bears lifted their record to 55-52.
