The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the ThunderBears, striking out 4 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Román allowed Council Bluffs to escape with the 2-0 win, despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said, 'Jorge, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Román told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
