Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Fighting Centaurs
|
The Athens Fighting Centaurs sent the home crowd home ecstatic.
Sydney got a terrific game from designated hitter Jules Le Gal. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Athens, 7-6, in 13 innings. Le Gal went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Edward Crutcher in relief. His record improves to 17-6. Ferede Keohi took the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Athens shortstop Zach Trewartha, facing Ryan Cline, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Fighting Centaurs the 7-6 win.
"This wasn't a good win," said Trewartha. "It was a great win."
Athens, at 63-96, occupies last place in the GBC EurAsia Division.
