Riding the 3-hit performance of the slugging designated hitter Matthew Woods, the Tokyo Pearls stopped the Sao Paulo Pilots, 8-2, in 9 innings. Billy Kelly picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 13-5. Today's win puts Tokyo at 93-67, while Sao Paulo falls to 82-78.

Tristan Lloyd had a big solo home run for the Pearls in the top of the fifth inning. With Tokyo leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he got a curveball from Troy Torres, who finished 4th in the GBC in ERA with 3.51 last year, and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 18th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pearls ahead, 4-2.

"They took it to us," said Sao Paulo manager Jesús Cabral.
