It's Over! Brisbane Defeats Sydney
|
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Brisbane Beacons closed out the season with a 5-2 victory over the Sydney Devil Bears at The Beacon to capture the Round 3, 4-3.
Giving the Devil Bears credit for a hard-fought series, Beacons players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Oceania Baseball Academy champions.
"We felt like this was our year all season long," said third baseman Li Vantassell, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."
It was the 2nd in franchise history. During the Conference 2 Division 1 regular season Brisbane put up a 22-18 record and finished second.
"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Sydney manager Mauro Victorero. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
