Spartans Prevail, as Interior Series Goes to the Wire
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Ocean Front "Red Triangle" Park as the Interior Series stretched to the final game.

It was the Santa Cruz Spartans feeling the thrill of victory, with a 8-3 win over the High Point Hammers, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Series of Accountability.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said High Point manager Jesús Rivera. "Congratulations to Santa Cruz, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 2-1 series win was center fielder Carlos Morales, who was named MVP. He hit .818 with a .769 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 12 RBI and scored 7 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

The Santa Cruz Spartans will play against the Kamloops Moops in the next round. Kamloops won their series against the Reno Aces 2 games to 0. The Series of Accountability is scheduled to begin on September 7th , 2064.
