Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Austin Shredders and Rocky Mountain Oysters.
In a close game at Smashburger Field, the Austin Shredders edged the Rocky Mountain Oysters, 4-3. Austin right fielder Jorge Herrera stood apart with his performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Nelson Middlebrooks picked up the save for Austin, his 10th of the year.
Austin used a clutch at-bat from Brent Gilbert to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Shredders ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Jorge is still learning," said Shredders manager David Pinto. "The sky's the limit for him."
At 59-62, the Shredders find themselves in 4th place in the Johnson League Frontier Division.
