The Portland Lumberjacks picked up a win at The Trail in Multnomah, knocking off the San Fernando Bears, 4-1. Starting pitcher Bernie Stuart was a big reason why. Stuart picked up the win for Portland, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. The win leaves Portland with a record of 8-11.

Geoffrey Dodson had a big solo home run for the Lumberjacks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Portland leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jerry Richards and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Lumberjacks on top, 3-1.

Dodson called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
