Williams Spins Shutout Against Mudcats
|
The Shreveport Mudcats manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Lake City Limes. The Mudcats were overpowered by Lake City starter Nelson Williams, who hurled his club to victory, 3-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Marcos Sánchez said.
Over 9 innings, Williams blanked Shreveport on 5 hits with no walks and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Williams said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
In 14 starts this season, Williams has rung up a 1-6 record and a 5.30 ERA.
