José Romero knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Crush Field, he made his case to be considered among that group.

The 22-year-old second baseman hammered 5 hits in 5 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Boulder Crush fell, 10-3, to the Pahrump Ranchers.

"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Ranchers manager Claudio Pérez told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Romero wasn't the difference."
