Lumberjacks Absorb 4-2 Loss at Vinnie Vitale Stadium
|
The Chicago Black Sox had to overcome a fine effort from Portland pitcher Murali Patachli to win, 4-2, at Vinnie Vitale Stadium. Patachli went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Orlando Rúbio, now 4-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Portland now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
Had Kyle Beers not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Beers hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Black Sox.
Chicago manager Rocky Wattson called it "a darn good win."
