Bears Roll Over Nine, 9-2
|
The San Fernando Bears weathered a fine game by Yellow Springs third baseman Tony Bunce to upend the Nine, 9-2, at Utopia Field. Bunce was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Dhrtatman Seshadri got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. By defeating Yellow Springs, the 6th-place Bears improved to 24-28.
Manny Trujillo took Yellow Springs hurler Jesús Ríos deep in the top of the second. His 3-run home run put the Bears on top, 3-0. In all, Trujillo had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Bill Inkster.
