Portland Tumbles Again, Falls, 4-2, to Chicago
|
Chicago Black Sox starter Stevie Bodine was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Portland Lumberjacks, 4-2. In 7 innings, Bodine surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Earning his 4th save of the year was Gary Powers.
Omar Robles had a big 2-run double for the Black Sox in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Bernie Stuart, who finished 3rd in the JL in strikeouts with 186 in 2057, and swatted a double to right. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Black Sox ahead, 3-0.
"Come up with some new questions," snapped losing manager Mons Raider to reporters, "and I'll come up with some new answers."
The losing skid has reached 8 games for Portland.
