Lodge Socks It to Bears, Cracks 5 Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Stan Lodge as he led the charge to a nifty 11-9 win over the Bears. The Saint Joseph first baseman was pure misery for the New Bern pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Lodge put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said John Graves, manager for the Bears, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Stan Lodge singled in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th and walked in the 15th.
Thus far this year, Lodge has hit .337 with 3 home runs and 25 RBIs.
