Stars Absorb 5-2 Home Loss
|
Valencia got a decent performance from pitcher Alvin Anstey, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Fernando Bears. San Fernando won the Dunn Field contest, 5-2. Anstey threw 6.0 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. Steve Fuller snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 3 innings. He's now 6-1 on the season. Bob Butler got the save, his 4th in 7 chances.
Keith Tims provided a timely hit. The San Fernando first baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Bears on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Tims said.
San Fernando has now won 3 in a row.
