Helwich Delivers Walk-Off Win for Stars
Mynorli Gaajlimitz did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Portland Lumberjacks an extra-inning, 9-5 loss to the Valencia Stars at Dunn Field. Gaajlimitz went 3-4 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Valencia reliever Alphonse Lease picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Mauro Esperanda absorbed the loss. The Stars go to 54-87 with the win.

Valencia got a knockout punch from Bernd Helwich. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Helwich said (again).
